What are some signs I should see a dentist?

If you have pain or discomfort when you chew, bite down hard, or experience unusual swelling in your mouth or face, it’s time to see your dentist. Serious problems, such as tooth decay and gum disease, can be at play here.

Other signs include a yellowed appearance of the teeth or gums, pain with chewing, loose or missing teeth, and sores on the tongue. If you have any of these symptoms, call your dentist ASAP.

Apart from this, we recommend that everyone sees their dentist bi-annually for a cleaning and check-up to keep their mouth happy and catch any issues early on.

What can I expect during a dental checkup?

Your dentist will examine your mouth, teeth, and gums at a dental checkup. They'll also check your teeth for signs of dental decay and cavities. Dentists may also take x-rays of your teeth and refer you to an oral surgeon if they see any tooth damage or disease.

Your dentist will clean your teeth and then advise you on any changes to make at home to keep your teeth healthy. This could include simple things such as brushing or flossing more often, or using mouth guards.

I had a very positive experience in my appointment for a couple of fillings yesterday. Everyone was so nice and really seemed to care about my comfort. The explanations of the procedures were very nice to hear. I know, who likes to go to the dentist, right? Well, this visit was about as good as it can get.
